Daily Office reading for 5/17/2005

1 Timothy 1:18-2:8

5 For there is one God; there is also one mediator between God and humankind, Christ Jesus, himself human,
6 who gave himself a ransom for all--this was attested at the right time.

One God and one mediator between God and mankind. So much for many paths to God. I wonder why this is so difficult to accept by some folks. They would rather reject this statement and the statements of Jesus himself about being the only way to the Father. I ask myself, who am I to reject what Jesus says about himself?

Amen.
Contrary to modern superstition, it is obedience, not therapy, that lies at the heart of the Christian life. In following the Way we work to shed our lives of our manifest faults and weaknesses. Ultimatly, we can only succeed in our walk through life with His saving grace, but we must try and try again and again.
Put on His yoke, repent your sins every day, and He will help. That is what it is all about.
Peace.
