PRELATES WHO INSTALLED GAY BISHOP FACE PETITION TO INDICT UNDER CHURCH LAW

WASHINGTON, DC (04/12/06) . Episcopal laymen launched a national petition drive today to bring to church trial 35 bishops involved in the installation of a practicing homosexual bishop in New Hampshire, including the new bishop. Its purpose is to determine, in formal trials, the standing of church law, doctrine and practice, the sponsor said.


NATIONAL PETITION REQUESTING PRESENTMENT

WE, THE UNDERSIGNED, AFFIRMING OUR VALID MEMBERSHIP IN THE EPISCOPAL CHURCH OF THE UNITED STATES, DO PETITION AND REQUEST:
THAT BISHOPS WITH JURISDICTION UNDERTAKE IMMEDIATE STEPS TO INITIATE PROCEEDINGS FOR PRESENTMENT OF BISHOP V. GENE ROBINSON AND ALL BISHOPS WHO CONSECRATED OR ASSISTED OR OTHERWISE PARTICIPATED IN OFFICIAL CONSECRATION OF BISHOP, WITH SPECIAL ATTENTION TO PROSPECTIVE CHARGES OF VIOLATION OF ORDINATION AND CONSECRATION VOWS AS THEY PERTAIN TO CHURCH DOCTRINE AND DISCIPLINE AND RELATED OFFENSES.
