Lectionary readings for 2/24/05

John 5:19-29 (NRSV)
19 Jesus said to them, 'Very truly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing on his own, but only what he sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, the Son does likewise.

This should be our attitude as well. To do only what our Heavenly Father is doing.

24 Very truly, I tell you, anyone who hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life, and does not come under judgment, but has passed from death to life.

This is our blessed hope. Glory to God!

A Prayer of Self-Dedication
Almighty and eternal God, so draw our hearts to you, so guide our minds, so fill our imaginations, so control our wills, that we may be wholly yours, utterly dedicated unto you; and then use us, we pray you, as you will, and always to your glory and the welfare of your people; through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Amen.
Self-dedication. We must dedicate every moment of our lives to searching for God and our call to service under God. We must practice discipline to exercise our reason and imagination to discern the will of God and His plan for our lives. We must strenghten ourselves to recognise and resist the temptations of the world, the flesh and the devil. We must stand and hold as soldiers of our Lord in defending the faith from the assaults of a secular materialist culture.
Pray for wisdom, courage and humiltiy. Pray for His aid.
Thy will be done.
Amen.
